Simple question: if you could live anywhere in Australia if you didn't have to worry about money, where would you choose and why?
We are looking to escape from the outskirts of Sydney as we approach retirement age and have been looking at several options. I am particularly partial to the central coast as we've loved our time we've spent there holidaying in recent years, specifically the Port Stephens and Nelson Bay areas. People have been very friendly and the weather is lovely, big enough for good dining and things to do but not crowded or busy like Sydney has become even in the suburbs!
For those from around the country, where would you choose? I am very interested to know your reasons and help inspire us!!
well, no prizes for guessing where i would suggest to live :D
seriously though the Gold Coast gets a bit of a bad rap because people just judge it as Surfers Paradise when in reality NO long time local goes there... the rest of the region is wonderful and there is a good balance between coast/greenery/shopping with some of the best weather in the country.
Plus, the restaurant scene here is growing all the time as more money is invested and people continue to migrate so there are some seriously good Melbourne-style places popping up all the time
if you're older there are plenty of nice suburbs to live depending on your budget (especially around Emerald Lakes, back parts of Mudgeeraba, nicer areas of Robina and Benowa etc) so give it a thought :)
